Addicted to crack?  What does that have to do with the internet? Well, a lot! According to the Manual of Adolescent Substance Abuse Treatment it calls crack the most addictive form of cocaine. That’s the reason a few app developers of mobile games have used the word “crack” in the title of their apps.  These games are promoted as ways to increase brain activity and fight off Alzheimer’s Disease.

The two most popular are Word Crack and Trivia Crack. In Word Crack you are given 2 minutes to find as many words as you can in Boggle like fashion. You can play against other friends or random people you don’t know.  In Trivia Crack you play against an opponent to collect 6 category characters by answering a series of questions.  The first one to get all 6 characters wins the game. It all sounds fun doesn’t it?

Overall these games are clean, educational and do stimulate the brain. The problem is, that as their names suggests, they can be very addictive and hours can slip by without even realizing it. The competitive nature of the games also adds to their addictive nature.

So enjoy and learn but be careful to regulate spend on these types of activities, especially if they cause you to neglect responsibilities or fellowship with others.
